Memorial Park is still open.
Yes, Memorial, Sam McDonald, Heritage Grove and Pescadero Creek parks are still open for day use. Sadly, low water levels in Pescadero Creek have resulted in campground closures, no available drinking water and port-a-potties in the parking lots but the parks are still open for your enjoyment. Celebrate Memorial Park on Saturday, June 28, 10am-2pm.
A variety of events are being planned to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Memorial Park, the first San Mateo County Park. Celebrate the Memories, Restore the Glory and Preserve for the Future.
The first of these activities include an open house to enjoy the refurbished displays in the Henry Bloomquist Nature Center, a presentation by Park Ranger Katherine Wright about the Marbled Murrelet, a unique robin sized bird that nests in the large limbs of old-growth redwoods found in Memorial Park and agilely but secretively flies along Pescadero Creek 12 miles to the west to the ocean to hunt and feed, and an easy hike in the park to see old growth trees and various Marbled Murrelet protection measures. September 13 – Bats! A presentation and night hike by Corky Quirk, Yolo Basin Foundation

Summer solstice hike, June 21, 10am-1pm.
Celebrate the summer solstice with a nature walk! Experience a brief demonstration of why this is the longest day of the year. Join Friends of Edgewood docents on this free, three to four mile walk. Click here for more information.
