SFO Restaurant Workers Reach Tentative Contract Agreement

San Francisco International Airport food service workers and restaurant management announced today that they have reached a tentative agreement on a six-year contract ensuring an increase in wages, health insurance and pension benefits, an SFO spokesman said.

The tentative collective bargaining agreement between Unite Here Local 2, which represents SFO food service workers and SFO Restaurants, which represents the airport’s restaurant management, came less than a week after a two-day strike shut down numerous restaurants at the airport.

Unite Here Local 2’s food service director Anand Singh said he believes that the contract provides workplace standards that support employees and the work they do.

SFO airport director John L. Martin said he is confident that the “new contract will ensure the best pay and benefits for SFO food service employees.”

SFO Restaurants’ president Steve Sarver said he views the agreement to be as an “important step forward at SFO.”

A ratification vote for the six-year contract is scheduled for Monday, according to SFO spokesman Doug Yakel.
