At the July 8th 2014 San Bruno City Council meeting the following two items were included on the publicized agenda:
(1) Report on the 4th of July Safe & Sane Firework's enforcement effort.
Chief of Police Neil Telford reported that during the reporting period in 2014 there were 137 calls regarding illegal fireworks versus 128 calls in 2013. Nine citations were issued for possession of and or use of illegal fireworks. Twenty two pounds of illegal fireworks were confiscated.
(2) An update was given seeking approval from the Council to authorize not to exceed $800,000.00 for the City's 50% portion of the NOW estimated $1.6 MILLION dollars for the Signature Gateway Archway Structure. The report showed that the initial total estimate was $1.2 million (split 50-50 City & Caltrain). It then went up to $1.4 MILLION, and now has gone up to $1.6 MILLION.
Councilman Ken Ibarra was excused with notice, so the four votes showed a 2 to 2 tie and the resolution will be brought back at the July 22nd meeting for another vote.
If YOU have thoughts on authorizing this expenditure or not, let the Council know.
Councilman Salazar and Councilman Medina voted NO,
Councilwoman O'Connell and Mayor Ruane voted YES.
