Who: Special Olympics Northern California, the San Bruno Police Department, and Chili’s Restaurant
What: Local Law Enforcement will trade in their handcuffs and badges for gourmet burgers and aprons at the Chili’s Restaurant in San Bruno as part of the Signature Tip-A-Cop event benefiting Special Olympics. Law Enforcement will collect tips and help serve

Special Olympics Northern California is a free year-round sports training and competition program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. There are 17,777 athletes who compete in 156 competitions throughout the region in 11 sports. Included in that figure are 7,160 special education student-athletes who have Special Olympics in the classroom through a Schools Partnership Program. Special Olympics requires the extraordinary support and time of 17,140 volunteers and volunteer coaches. Financial support comes almost exclusively from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations.

About Law Enforcement Torch Run and Tip-A-Cop Northern California
Tip-A-Cop® is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) campaign. LETR, which includes an international series of relay runs and special events like Tip-A- Cop®, are presented by more than 144,000 law enforcement officers worldwide to help raise money and public awareness for Special Olympics. LETR is the largest grassroots fundraising and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics Northern California, through which funds raised go directly to local programs.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the largest year-round fund-raising vehicle benefiting Special Olympics Northern California. The annual relay and its various fundraising projects, conducted by officers representing every branch of law enforcement, have a mission of partnering with our communities to support Special Olympics Programs through raising funds and public awareness, while enhancing the quality of life of our athletes. LETR has raised more than $6 million dollars since its inception in 1998.
