Things to Know: School District Advisory Committee to Meet; Get Your Holiday Crafts

Here are seven things every San Bruno resident should know about for the coming week.

Here are some important things happening around town that everyone should know about this coming week.

Saturday, Nov. 26. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The 20th annual will take place at the senior center. There will be more than 35 vendors selling professionally hand-crafted items.

Tuesday, Nov. 29.  7 p.m. The San Bruno Park School District advisory committee that has been to balance enrollment throughout the district when sixth graders move to Parkside Intermediate next year is meeting at . The committee is considering two options and will vote on one to recommend to the school board: One option is to change the current school enrollment boundaries but leave the district's transfer policies the same, while the other is to keep everthing the same.

The meeting is open to the public and anyone interested in learning more about school realignment and possible school closures is encouraged to attend. Agendas from previous meetings and a copy of the boundary study funded by the district can be found on the district's website. Thursday, Dec. 1. 5:30 p.m. The annual holiday tree lighting ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial Building. Enjoy the carolers, goodies, children’s crafts and visit with Santa.

Events Beyond This Week...So You Can Plan Properly

Friday, Dec. 2.  7:55 a.m. John Muir Elementary's rolls again to the school. A walking school bus is a group of children walking to school with one or more adults. It can be something as informal as two families taking turns walking their children to school or something as structured as a route with meeting points, a timetable and a regularly rotated schedule of trained volunteers.  There will be four routes starting at 7:55 a.m. with parent supervision to make sure that all groups cross intersections safely. Walkers are asked to wear Jaguar Blue and White.

Route 1 – From Princeton and Crestmoor along the east side of Crestmoor.

Route 2 – From Madison along the south side of Rosewood to Crestmoor and then south on Crestmoor.

Route 3 – From Madison along the south side of Bennington to Crestmoor and then south on Crestmoor.

Route 4 – From London Ct. along the west side of Crestmoor.

Saturday, Dec. 3. 11 a.m. The San Bruno Education Foundation and Barnes & Noble are teaming up to hold a for the community. The book fair will take place outside the bookstore at the mall. San Bruno Park School District Superintendent David Hutt will be doing a reading. Other activities are planned and will last until 4 p.m.

1. The San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District provides the attached November mosquito tip so you can help control mosquito breeding. Remember: Dump all standing water.

2. The will again be collecting new and unwrapped toys for its yearly Toys For Tots giveaway on Dec. 19. Drop off your donations at either of the city's two fire stations before Dec. 19.
