3 Human Fetuses Found In Package At SFO

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Employees at San Francisco International Airport discovered a package containing three human fetuses, leading to the indictment of a Colorado woman for attempting to smuggle human tissue.

The Mercury News reported that Emily S. Cain was indicted on Oct. 8 and charged with attempted smuggling of goods for attempting to smuggle the fetuses — believed to have been stillborns from the 1920 and 1930s — from the U.S. to London, England.

Inside the package, authorities also found a card reading “G. Howard McGinty, Director and Curator of McGinty Fine Oddities." Investigators determined that Cain had sent the package, having acquired the fetuses from a friend who worked at the Department of Medical Education at Creighton University.

Cain allegedly planned to sell the fetuses for up to $20,000, the Mercury News reported.
