Not JUST for Boys!
GATE Parents Group Speaker Series presents: Screening and panel discussion of film, by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. More than ever today’s teens are dealing with increased stresses of modern life and the pressures of “succeeding”. The Mask you Live In looks through the lens of what it means to be a man in our culture, and how our society's narrow definition of masculinity is harming our boys, men and society at large. In a time where the #MeToo movement has exploded, The Mask You Live In is a must-see film for just about everyone. Warning: contains strong language, and discusses drugs and sexuality. Appropriate for high school students and older.

Film Synopsis:
The Mask You Live In follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity. Experts in neuroscience, psychology, sociology, sports, education, and media also weigh in, offering empirical evidence of the “boy crisis” and tactics to combat it. The Mask You Live In ultimately illustrates how we, as a society, can raise a healthier generation of boys and young men.
