Touch a Truck Gift to Students From San Bruno Public Works

In conjunction with celebrating National Public Works Week recently, San Bruno’s Public Works Department reached out to San Bruno Park elementary schools to arrange a Touch a Truck activity, bringing their service vehicles to our schools to teach students about what Public Works does for our community – services we take for granted until we need them! Numerous trucks of all sizes and functions were greeted at the schools by enthusiastic students waiting to learn about what they do and how they work. The vehicle operators invited the students to “touch a truck” ,which included having students sitting in them. The photos(taken at Portola Elementary School) tell the story.

Some of the tasks San Bruno Public Works Department provides are managing design and construction projects, testing water quality to ensure it meets the regulated standards, responding to and repairing water main breaks so residents and businesses have continued service, keeping our drain inlets free from debris, repairing potholes, cleaning sewer pipelines.

San Bruno Park School District thanks City Manager Connie Jackson, Public Works leaders Jimmy Tan and Dennis Bosch, and the equipment operators for organizing Touch a Truck for our schools demonstrating yet again that San Bruno is indeed the City with a Heart.
