"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul."
— John Muir, naturalist, author, founder, The Sierra Club
May is a wonderful time to visit the parks and see the diversity of wildflowers on display. There are just a few more weekends to take advantage of the Friends of Edgewood’s wildflower walks. Their expert docents do a stellar job identifying the various flowers in bloom. And you can still take advantage of the free park shuttle to get to Edgewood and skip the hassle of parking.

Vote Yes on Prop 68
May is also a good time to send in your mail-in ballot and vote for parks. Among the items on the June 5 ballot is Prop 68, a $4.1 billion parks and water bond. Investment prioritiesinclude expanding access to parks in park-poor areas, restoring San Francisco Bay, and improving wildlife and fish passage. The San Mateo County Parks Foundation endorses Prop 68 and we urge you to vote yes! Every single vote counts!
If you want to do more, you can request a Yes on Prop 68 yard sign and volunteer to make calls to voters encouraging their support.
What: Phone bank for Prop 68, California’s Clean Water and Safe Parks Act
Where: Democratic Volunteer Center, 960 San Antonio Road, Palo Alto
When: Wednesdays until election day, May 16, May 23, May 30, 4-7pm
