David Nigel of the BPAC writes:

Saturday afternoon, a large crowd of adults and children gathered in San Bruno City Park for the Tenth Annual Children’s and Book Day Celebration. More than twenty booths representing all the schools of the San Bruno Park School District, service organizations, the library, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, bands, dancers, and a myriad of fun-filled activities took place. Face painting and balloon twisting were favorites!

Schools Superintendent Stella M. Kemp was present and thanked all those responsible for making this event such a special, successful activity. This included many volunteers and City Staff. She also announced the winner of the fundraiser raffle for the San Bruno Foundation for Education.

As youngsters visited each booth, they received a rubber stamp-imprint on their “Passport.” Once five stamps were collected, the child was awarded a free book.

In addition to the pleasant weather, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves very much.

Our “Bike to Work Day” is coming up Thursday, May 10th and we will be promoting two “Refresher” stations.

One will be sponsored by WALMART at the San Bruno BART station.

The other will be sponsored by YOUTUBE at the CALTRAIN station.
