Young Girl Saved From Human Trafficking In San Bruno: Police

Police said they got a call for a "female subject asking for help" when they learned what was happening.

SAN BRUNO, CA — A juvenile girl was rescued over the weekend from a case of human trafficking, San Bruno police said on Monday. The girl, whose exact age was not disclosed, managed to get in contact with police just after midnight Sunday and her alleged captors were caught shortly thereafter.

At 12:03 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the area of East Huntington Avenue and Herman Street, according to SBPD Sgt. Gene Wong.

"The subject stated that she was trying to get away from someone and appeared to be afraid," Wong said in a news release. "Officers arrived and learned the subject requesting help was a juvenile and that she had been driven to the area by a male and female to meet with someone to engage in a commercial sex act."

Police said they determined the girl "was a victim of human trafficking and a subsequent investigation led officers to her traffickers in a vehicle nearby."

Twenty-six-year-old Taroy Lakeith Ireland and 27-year-old Ieshea Lucetia Pearl Marie were subsequently arrested and booked into the San Mateo County jail on suspicion of human trafficking and conspiracy, according to Wong. Both alleged traffickers are from Sacramento.
