Sister City Association Seeks Host Families for Exchange Students

Exchange students from San Carlos sister city Omura, Japan, will be visiting for the first two weeks of August, and the San Carlos Sister City Association is looking for host families between San Mateo and Menlo Park.

The San Carlos organization is co-sponsoring the trip along with  the Omura city government.  Ed Sanders, the group's vice-president, notes that the teenaged exchange students speak English, and that host families will receive first priority if their own high-school-aged children wish to visit Omura next year.

Sanders adds that the Sister City Association is scheduling numerous day trips and other activities for the students, and that hosts "can simply take a student in as a part of the family for a couple of weeks without worrying about providing constant entertainment."

Being an exchange student, Sanders says, "is a life-changing experience that opens a young person's eyes to a different culture and a different way of living.  It's something that students and host families never forget."
