Teen Reports Armed Robbery In San Carlos Park

The 15-year-old told law enforcement that seven to eight males, in dark clothing and possibly armed, stole his cell phone, deputies said.

SAN CARLOS, CA – A 15-year-old male reported he was robbed, possibly at gunpoint, of his cell phone Saturday night in a San Carlos park by seven to eight men wearing dark clothing, officials said.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said the victim was reportedly approached at approximately 7 p.m. at Burton Park at 900 Chestnut St. by males, who were described as possibly black, with faces partially covered and wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts.

"One of the suspects presented what is believed to be a black handgun and demanded the victim’s cell phone," the department said.

The suspects allegedly took the cell and fled toward Woodland Avenue. Some fled on foot and others possibly in a black, newer model Honda sedan or similar type or vehicle, officials said.

Deputies searched the area, but did not locate any suspects. The victim was not injured. This crime is under investigation, and there are no similar reports logged in the area, the agency added.
