Camino Del Rio Road Improvements Will Cause Temporary Headache, City Says

With a targeted completion date of July, the San Clemente Camino Del Rio Intersection gets a much-needed update.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — The construction of the intersection improvements on Camino Del Rio are underway with a target completion date of early July 2017, but with that comes road closures and construction havoc the city admitted in recent release.

"The City (of San Clemente) greatly appreciates the public being patient and cooperative as it works to improve the community’s street network," senior transportation engineer Jennifer Rosales said in recent press release.

In order to do the work that needs completing for the roundabout central islands and medians, the intersections of Camino de Los Mares and Calle Sarmentoso, will temporarily close.

Drivers should be aware of the closures and seek alternate travel routes according to the city manager's office.

"The two intersections will be closed at different time periods to minimize inconvenience for the local community during the detour periods," Rosales said. "The intersections at Camino de Los Mares and Calle Sarmentoso will be closed at different time periods for approximately three weeks beginning on May 3 with a target detour and closure completion date of May 31."

Access to homes in the communities adjacent to Camino Del Rio will be accessible at all times.

Following the construction of the roundabout central islands and center medians, periodic closures may also occur to facilitate the landscaping installation and paving operations.

"The City asks that the public plan alternative routes during this period and adhere to the detour routes," she said. "For more information on the forthcoming detour routes, please visit the City website at www.san-clemente.org."
