Cancellation of the 2020 San Clemente Trolley Service
7/15/2020…San Clemente, California…Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of San Clemente is cancelling the remainder of the 2020 San Clemente trolley service. Originally, the City planned to start this summer’s trolley service on Memorial Day weekend. However, the start date had been postponed until August 1 to monitor the State’s progress toward moving into Stage 4 of the Pandemic Resilience Roadmap. Since that is now very unlikely to occur during the remainder of the planned trolley operating season, the City is regrettably cancelling the 2020 San Clemente trolley service.

The City considered potential modifications to the trolley service, however the physical distancing standards and other necessary requirements for safe operation during the pandemic dramatically reduce rider capacity and make it infeasible to operate the trolleys at this time. The City looks forward to being able to provide trolley service next summer.
