Delayed Employment Report Has Good News for Orange County
Orange County has gained nearly 29,200 jobs since the beginning of the year, and the unemployment rate has fallen from 7.1 percent to 5.8 percent.

California's monthly employment report, delayed for two months by the federal government shutdown, shows the unemployment rate in Orange County declined from 6.2 percent in August to 5.8 percent in October.
The report from theΒ Employment Development DepartmentΒ on FridayΒ showed that 1,533,200 people were employed in the county in October,Β 29,200 more than at the beginning of the year. The unemployment rate in January was 7.1 percent.
Orange County's unemployment rate is much lower than forΒ California as a whole, which wasΒ 8.7 percent in October, down fromΒ 8.9 percent in August.Β
