Earthquakes Swarm Off OC Coast: Did You Feel Them?

A series of small earthquakes swarmed off the Orange County coastline Tuesday morning. Did you feel them?

SAN CLEMENTE, CA โ€” Perhaps it jolted you awake, or maybe you just turned over and fell back asleep, but early Tuesday, four small quakes rattled the San Clemente Islands.

The series of earthquakes struck in the morning hours Tuesday, three of them over 3 in magnitude.

The first, located 12 kilometers west of San Clemente Island, struck at just before 4:30 a.m., Tuesday morning. It was followed by another, just before 5 a.m. reaching magnitude 3.5.

A third and smaller quake was centered south, southeast of Avalon, Calif. has been downgraded to 2.5 magnitude.

The last, a 3.3 magnitude quake struck at just before 6 a.m.
