Machine-Gun Brandishing Neighbor Gets Reported

SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Also, a holiday customer feud, a man with a rifle disappears, and a man tries to steal a Toyota.

At 5:19 p.m. Friday Dec. 6, a concerned neighbor reported a suspicious person in the 0 block of Camino Lozano. The caller said a man was wielding a machine gun on the balcony of a neighboring house. When the caller talked to the man, he said he was not from San Clemente and was not drunk; however the caller told deputies the man sounded extremely intoxicated. No arrest was made.

Also:

At 9:23 a.m. Friday Dec. 6, deputies received a call about a disturbance in the 2200 block of El Camino Real. An employee contacted deputies, saying she was in a heated verbal argument with a customer and needed police backup. No arrest was made.

At 3:14 p.m. Friday Dec. 6, a caller reported a suspicious person near the cross streets of Camino del Rio and Camino de Los Mares. A person was allegedly standing at the end of a dirt road, holding a rifle underneath a towel. When deputies arrived, the suspicious man was gone.

At 4:39 p.m. Friday Dec. 6, someone called the sheriff’s office to report a burglary in progress near the cross streets of East Avenida Pico and Via Pico Plaza. A man in a navy blue hoodie was allegedly trying to steal a green Toyota. No arrest was made.

These are selected reports from the San Clemente Police Dispatch Services log throughout the past few days. The calls represent what was told to a sheriff's deputy in the field by the radio dispatcher. No presumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the information provided.
