Man Claiming To Be Mexican Police Officer Caught With Meth Stash

The drugs were allegedly discovered a hidden compartment inside of the nervous driver's car when he was stopped south of San Clemente.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — An Ensenada man claiming to be a Mexican police officer was caught driving between San Diego and Orange County with more than 50 pounds of methamphetamine inside his vehicle, an Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesperson said.

The driver, Miguel Patron, 41, was pulled over for a vehicle code violation when he agreed to allow officers to inspect his car, OCSD information officer Carrie Braun said.

A police canine assisting with the search allegedly discovered 50 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a secret compartment within the car.

Patron was arrested and booked into a San Diego County jail. He is being held on $200,000 bail.
