The Many Queens of Ramses II - Not All Were Considered Equal
Free presentation by OC chapter of the American Research Center of Egypt (ARCE) Oct. 4 at the Bowers Museum

The tomb of the fabled Nefertari, Egyptiqueen of Pharaoh Ramses II, lies in the Valley of the Queens, near Luxor, Egypt. And so do his other 17 wives and concubines. But not all of them enjoy tombs that are as elaborate as that of Nefertari. Dr. Heather Lee McCarthy, Deputy Director of New York University’s Epigraphic Expedition to Ramses II tomb at Abydos, Egypt has studied the designs, sizes, decorations and more of the queens’ tombs and offers an inside look at the hierarchy of the royal court.
