Skullcandy to Close Shop in San Clemente

Skullcandy, the maker of trendy headphones, is shutting down its San Clemente operation, according to several sources.
The company, based in Park City, Utah, went public to two years ago, but has been struggling lately, reported the Salt Lake Tribune.
Skullcandy employs about 30 people in San Clemente, according to the Orange County Business Journal, including personnel in the marketing, creative and business development and legal departments.

All positions will be relocated to Utah, expected sometime this summer, the Tribune reported. Many employees will have the option to move.
One who won't be joining them is Chief Financial Officer Kyle Wescoat, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported:
"Bringing together our teams in Park City will allow us to better focus our go-to-market process and ensure our products, messaging and distribution are aligned with our target consumer," said President and CEO Hoby Darling, whose company saw sales take a 30 percent in the first quarter.
