Small Earthquake Strikes Off Orange County Coast
A 3.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Avalon, Catalina Island on Thursday morning. Did you feel it?

AVALON, CA — It's one of the most exciting parts of living in southern California. That split second after a quake begins when you reach for social media to find out if it really was a quake or if it was just a large truck rumbling by your home.
On Thursday, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck at just after 10:30 a.m. roughly 50 miles from San Clemente and 65 miles from Dana Point. The small temblor rumbled briefly off the coast of Avalon on Catalina Island, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
This following a 4.5 magnitude quake that rattled the Bay area awake in the early hours of the morning and got readers across social media platforms sharing that jolt of adrenaline with one another.
