SURF REPORT: Not a Lot of Energy Tuesday

Minimal surf on tap!

Good Tuesday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report.

Well, I wish I could say that this spring storm was bringing us some fun-size surf, but unfortunately that's not the case. Yep, we're looking at some pretty minimal energy out there.

We're seeing some fairly clean conditions early on, but it's likely things could worsen sooner than later. As far as the surf goes, we've got mainly minor northwest windswell and barely any south southwest energy in the water.

That recipe is providing this stretch of sand with some soft, sectiony lines, with a few decent shoulders. You'll definitely want to get out the small wave gear, if you're planning on paddling.

Most spots in San Clemente are running about knee- to thigh-high, with the top combo breaks seeing some waist-high waves, with maybe a plus set.

Taking a look at the tides, at 10:21 later this morning it climbs up to a 4.1 high which will have some spots a bit full and inconsistent mid-morning. The tide then drops to a 1.6 low at 3:22 this afternoon.

If you're itching for a salt water bath, a 3/2 fullsuit will do the job, with the water temperature averaging between 62 and 63 degrees. Good luck out there.

FYI: County Health Officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacterial levels, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
