SURF REPORT: Small Waves and Early Fog

Foggy conditions early on!

Good Thursday morning surfers, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report. Well, unfortunately we're dealing with something we don't see very often along the coast. Yep, there's some fairly dense fog and that's making it pretty difficult to see the surf.  Basically we're seeing another day of mainly small energy out there.

The conditions are fairly clean, with some spots seeing a little texture on it. We've got the continued combination of mostly southwest swell and very little northwest energy in the water.

That's delivering some crumbly and pretty broken-up lines, with a few fun ones.  Most spots in San Clemente are running about knee- to waist-high, with the top south-facing breaks seeing some stomach-high waves, with maybe the occasional plus set.

At 5:30 this morning, the tide drained out to a negative 0.5 low which will have many spots needing water and pretty inconsistent early on. Your best bet will be once that tide fills in a bit. It eventually pushes up to a 3.4 high at 12:04 this afternoon.

If you're going to get wet, well that water temperature is definitely on the cool side, so you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit or maybe a 4/3, with it hanging between 58 and 59 degrees.

Good luck out there!
