SURF REPORT: Waves Are Picking up a Bit

Showing a little more energy.

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your San Clemente Patch surf report. Well, there's a hint of more energy out there today, but overall it's still fairly small and weak. So, once again, you'll definitely want to break out some sort of small wave board!

We're seeing some really nice and clean conditions from the start, with some warm weather which is making it more motivating. As far as the surf goes, we're seeing a mixture of mostly south-southwest swell and a minimal dose of northwest energy in the water.

That recipe is offering some crumbly, broken-up lines, with a few steep, racy shoulders.  Most spots in San Clemente are seeing knee- to waist-high waves, with the top combo breaks pulling an occasional stomach-high set.

At 4:52 early this morning the tide drained out to a negative 0.5 low which will have many spots lacking water early on. Once that tide fills in a bit, we should see things improve a little and become a bit more consistent. The tide climbs up to a 3.5 high at 11:18 later this morning and then drops again to a 2.0 low at 3:57 this afternoon.

If you're going to grab a session, then you'll want to throw on that 3/2 fullsuit, with the water temperature hanging between 58 and 60 degrees.  Have fun out there!
