Community Corner

Stoneybrooke's Great Shoe Giveaway

On Wednesday, Feb. 20t 24 Student Council members from both of Stoneybrooke Christian Schools campuses descended on a street corner in San Juan Capistrano with about 1,000 pairs of good, used shoes to give away.

The entire student body from both campuses (Ladera Ranch and San Juan Capistrano) collected the shoes over a three-week period of time.

Residents from the surrounding community began to congregate around the shoes, choosing as many pairs as they wanted to take home with them. The actual event only took a couple hours as the shoes were quickly gathered up and whisked away.

This annual event for the school coincides with the schools' Missions Week where students are encouraged to think of someone else who is not so fortunate and how they can get involved in meeting a need. In the same spirit, students also collect canned food every week to give to a local food bank.
