Volunteers for Adults with Disabilities Needed

Casa de Amma is a residence in San Juan Capistrano for Adults with Disabilities. We house and offer a full spectrum of services (nutrition, vocational, financial, etc) to 35 unique and amazing adults. 

We are launching a volunteer program to our community to further enhance the lives of these individuals. There are 3 roles to be filled for these:

1. Enrichment Group Leader: The volunteer role of Enrichment Group Leader is a person who comes to Casa to lead an enrichment group. Examples of an enrichment group could be a fitness class, art class, Bible study, sports group, etc. The volunteer would plan and lead the group in a manner that is beneficial for the residents attending. The purposes for the group would be increased socialization, participating in a beneficial activity and learning a new skill. The Enrichment Group Leader would report directly to a Casa staff member. Fingerprint and background check is mandatory for this role. A minimum commitment of 4 hours a month is requested.

2. Casa Buddy: The volunteer role of a Casa Buddy is one where a volunteer is teamed with a resident or two in order to socialize and provide friendship with a resident(s) at Casa. The Casa Buddy typically participates in activities such as playing games, going to a movie, out to lunch, etc. All costs of an activity are paid by each individual.  A Casa Buddy is teamed with a resident(s) by a staff at Casa and with permission from the resident’s family. Fingerprint and background check is mandatory for this role. A minimum commitment of 4 hours a month is requested.

3. Special Event/Staff Assistance Volunteer: The volunteer role of Special Event/Staff Assistance Volunteer is someone who volunteers on occasion for a special event or one-time activity. In addition they could come in to assist a Casa staff in an event or activity but would not lead any event or activity. The Special Event/Staff Assistance Volunteer will not be with a resident(s) alone and will always work directly with a Casa staff. Fingerprint and background check is not mandatory
