BLOG: Beware Financial Aid Award Letters

This is the time of year when college financial aid award letters are received by students. You would think that an award letter would be easy to understand, right? WRONG!

This is the time of year when college financial aid award letters are received by students. These are often provided via student portals (with a login required), although many are emailed, and some are still sent “snail mail.”

You would think that an award letter would be easy to understand, right? WRONG! We witness mass confusion every March/April timeframe from parents everywhere, not understanding the most important number of all: How much out-of-pocket cost they’re looking at for their students’ first year of college just a few months away.

We have a free seminar in our Dana Point Harbor office for local students (high school seniors and their parents) for translating these letters on Saturday, March 9th at 9 am.  Please register at www.GCFSeminars.com
