We've rounded up the stories you may have missed over the weekend to prepare you for the week ahead.

But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, summer is officially here — and the season is kicking off with an expected "significant warming trend" across Southern California beginning on Monday.

Temperatures are expected to steadily climb through Wednesday and Thursday, which are expected to be the warmest day, according to the National Weather Service.

Away from the coast, afternoon highs are expected to be 4 to 10 degrees above normal beginning on Tuesday. Coastal areas should expect temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s, while inland valleys could reach the low to mid 90s.

In other news, residents from a wide swath of the Southland are suffering from polluted air as a result of a warehouse fire in Los Angeles, which firefighters continued to battle for a fourth day in a row on Sunday.

The blaze prompted an emergency declaration from Gov. Gavin Newsom and a warning from officials who say the next concern is the massive amount of food left to rot inside the burned-out facility, which was used to store frozen grocery items.

Plus, the Los Angeles Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani says he had a good reason for missing a recent game — he and his wife have welcomed their second child.

"While LAPD provides officers with written guidance on the use of force and pets, this is not enough," Mayor Karen Bass said.
