BREAKING: Five Arrested Following San Juan Capistrano Murder Investigation

A Perris man was found murdered in a San Juan Capistrano creekbed. Five OC residents were arrested today on suspicion of murder, conspiracy.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — Five people — four men and one woman — were arrested today in connection with the killing of a Perris resident found murdered near Trabuco Creek in San Juan Capistrano.

At this time, any relationship between the arrestees and the victim is speculation, according to OCSD public information officer, Lt. Mark Stichter.

"We believe the victim had a relationship with one of the suspects," he said. "We are still trying to put together what the nature of that relationship was. The specific details of that relationship are purely speculation."

The victim, identified as 38-year-old Alvaro Rios, was discovered by a passerby near the dead end of Trabuco Creek Road approximately 10 a.m. on the morning of July 13.

Rios was initially reported missing by his wife to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office on July 13.

Following the initial 9-1-1 report, Orange County Sheriff's deputies responded to the end of Trabuco Creek Road and found Rios' body in the creekbed.

"Orange County Coroner responded and found traumatic injuries on the victim's body," according to Stichter. "The coroner's division conducted an autopsy and determined Alvaro's injuries were consistent with being stabbed."

Investigators prepared and served several warrants on vehicles and residences in south Orange County.

"It was good old fashioned police work," he said. "Search warrants were served on vehicles and residences. Our investigators have been working tirelessly since July 13, and developed enough from probable cause to arrest all five suspects in connection to this case."

Investigators arrested Ashkan Dezhangfard, 22, of San Juan Capistrano;

Ryan Huebner, 20, of Laguna Niguel;

Siavish Hosseinaliarhani, 18, of Laguna Niguel;

Brion Hyde, 22, of San Juan Capistrano;

and Angelica Shibata, 28, of San Juan Capistrano, in connection with the homicide.

They were all booked on suspicion of murder and conspiracy and were being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department has announced that five arrests have been made in connection with a homicide in San Juan Capistrano last week.

The body of a man was originally discovered in a San Juan Capistrano creek bed on July 13.

Orange County Sheriff's Department deputies were called to the area just after 1 p.m. after a person notified them about the body, discovered at the end of Trabuco Creek Road.

Homicide Unit Deputies were summoned by coroner's authorities to assist in the investigation, ruled initially as a "suspicious death."

"This was ruled a homicide due to the suspicious nature of the injuries on the victim," said OCSD Public Information Officer Lt. Mark Stichter.

The victim's name hasn't been released.
