Car Slams into Gas Meters, Causes Evacuations in Ladera Ranch
People in a dozen apartment units and a preschool across the street were cleared from the area.
A car slammed into a bank of natural gas meters today at an apartment building in Ladera Ranch, prompting authorities to evacuate 12 units and hold preschool students in their classrooms across the street.
The accident near Narrow Canyon and Aura Lane occurred about 10:15 a.m., Orange County Fire Authority Division Chief Kris Concepcion said. The driver was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo to be checked out for what Concepcion called minor injuries.
About 210 children at the nearby Goddard School for Early Childhood Development were sheltered in place “in an over abundance of caution,” Concepcion said.
