City Manager's Update: Jan. 7, 2012
The city looks ahead to the San Juan Summer Nites program and back on the success of house visits from Santa Claus.

SPECIAL EVENTS: The 2012 sponsorship is $3,500, and includes recognition benefits. Businesses or corporations interested in supporting the concert series are encouraged to call the Community Services Department at (949) 493-5911.
SANTA CLAUS: Twenty-six households, parties, and businesses used the services of our program this year.
: Last week permits were issued for demolition and foundation work for the expansion and renovation of the existing Ford dealership building.

BANNERS: The business-friendly has come to an end. A number of banners inconsistent with code provisions were installed, demonstrating that the program was well utilized by businesses in the City. City staff is reminding property and business owners to obtain permits or remove unauthorized banners.
: In the past week, the contractor constructed forms and tied steel for the channel lining, bike path underpass, and upper northern bike path wall at the east side of the creek. They backfilled and compacted behind the abutments. They also continued to work on laying out the bridge deck girder locations. This project is expected to be completed by May 2012.

GWRP REVERSE OSMOSIS MEMBRANE REPLACEMENTS: On Dec. 29, the department issued a purchase order for replacement of the reverse osmosis membranes at the GWRP that were damaged during the . We are estimating that the membranes will be replaced and in service by Jan. 19.
GWRP EMERGENCY GENERATOR PROJECT: The Utilities Department is in the process of procuring a design firm to update the preliminary design for installation of emergency generators for the GWRP, originally created in June of 2004, and to create construction bid documents. The Utilities Department will be going to bid for construction in late March 2012 and estimate completion of the project by the end of June 2012.
