A new McDonald's, an old roller hockey rink and going live on the Internet.

MCDONALD’S RESTAURANT REBUILD: has submitted a proposal to demolish the existing McDonald’s and construct a modern prototype McDonald’s.
LIVESTREAMING: Starting with this past Tuesday’s meeting, Planning Commission meetings are now viewable live and on demand through the city’s website. Agendas and videos of Planning Commission meetings will be archived and available online any time. as a method to expand transparency, promote citizen involvement, and to enhance communications to residents and businesses of San Juan Capistrano.
ROLLER HOCKEY RINK: Staff has been finalizing the selection for an operator for the roller hockey/multipurpose facility, located at .

: The Youth Advisory’s glow dance will be from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Friday, May 25. Presale tickets are $10 and tickets at the door are $15. Only high school students are allowed to attend and IDs must be presented at the door. Proceeds will benefit the city’s youth programs/activities and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
SMOKE ALARMS FOR SENIORS: Staff is working with a local Red Cross chapter and coordinating with Division 3, Chief Rick Robinson of the Orange County Fire Authority to identify high-risk seniors in mobile home parks for the Red Cross “Cause for Alarm” campaign. Both entities will canvas the mobile home parks which have agreed to participate in the program on Saturday, May 19th. Safety Kits, as well as smoke alarms, will be distributed and installed. Those homes with existing smoke alarms will be checked for functionality. Informational flIers will go out to each mobile home park informing residents of the event. The mobile home parks that will take part in the event are: Rancho Alipaz – 132 homes and San Juan Mobile Estates – 312 homes.

SWANNER HOUSE: The Hamilton Oaks Vineyards wine tasting and special events venue was reviewed by the Cultural Heritage Commission on April 24. On May 7, the proposal was reviewed at a joint meeting between the Open Space, Trails & Equestrian and Parks, Recreation & Senior Services Commissions. The city manager and staff are currently negotiating a license agreement with the proposed tenant and intend to bring it before the City Council in June 2012.
DEL OBISPO STREET BRIDGE WIDENING: The contractor placed concrete for the east half of the north side bridge concrete barrier. Workers removed the forms for the barrier. They also patched the pock marks and holes, and sandblasted the concrete barrier. They moved the forms to the west half of the bridge to prepare for concrete placement for the remaining length of the barrier. The contractor also installed SDG&E’s conduit through the bridge. The water line subcontractor constructed vaults for the water line expansion joints on the both sides of the bridge, and they continued installing the 12” water line through the bridge. The expected project completion is in July 2012.
EAST OPEN SPACE LEMON GROVE SITE: The citrus tree planting was completed and accepted on April 24. The contractor’s tree maintenance period began on April 25, and shall be administered for a period of 90 days. The contractor is scheduled to turn over maintenance responsibilities to the city after July 24.
