Day of the Dead: A Celebration of Life and Family

Join us on Sunday, October 30 from 12-5 pm and experience firsthand the Day of the Dead celebration. This wonderful annual event features children's crafts, artwork and altars throughout the library, food, face painting and performers like Capistrano Community Mariachi Program, San Juan Capistrano Ballet Folklorico and Huehueteotl Aztec Dance Group. Be sure not to miss the spectacular Casa de Calaveras, House of Skeletons, by filmmaker and artist George Newnam. Life-sized skeleton figures tell the story of a deceased couple who return to earth each year on the Day of the Dead. All six dioramas will be featured in La Sala Auditorium this year! All programs are free of charge and sponsored by Target and the Friends of the San Juan Capistrano Library.
