NCL Participates in Operation Valentine

The Capistrano Coast Chapter of the National Charity League (NCL) participated in Operation Interdependence’s annual Operation Valentine event, held on February 8th.

Mother and daughter teams from thirteen local southern California NCL chapters took the time to donate items, make gift bags for veterans, and assemble care packages for overseas troops. Operation Valentine is an annual event organized by Operation Interdependence in support of the selfless service performed by area veterans and active military members.

150 gift bags were hand-delivered to military veterans at The Veteran Center in Los Angeles. 200 additional gift bags were given to the veteran facility and were handed out at a separate Valentine’s event held later for the veterans. Another 150 assembled gift bags were delivered to the YMCA Military office located in San Diego and given to the Navy Hospital on base for the veterans in the hospital. An additional 750 care packages were assembled and shipped to deployed military units overseas. The items used in the assembly of the gift bags and care packages were donated by participating NCL chapters.

National Charity League, Inc. is a mother/daughter organization dedicated to serving local philanthropies while fostering the mother/daughter relationship. Mothers and daughters commit to a six year program, from 7th to 12th grade, centered on community service. The members participate in philanthropic work, educational activities, leadership development, and cultural enrichment.

The Capistrano Coast Chapter of NCL supports 28 charitable organizations throughout our community, including FAM, Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley, Orange County Special Olympics, Ronald McDonald House of Orange County, Women Helping Women, and U.S. Military Support-Operation Interdependence. The Capistrano Coast Chapter of NCL was honored as the Most Outstanding Chapter by its national organization in 2010. The Capistrano Coast Chapter of NCL represents the areas of San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Ladera Ranch and Mission Viejo.
