Northbound I-5 at Ortega to Close Tonight; Traffic to Get off, Back on the Freeway
If you're on the streets, you won't be able to join northbound traffic from Ortega.

Between midnight tonight and and 6 a.m. Saturday, the northbound I-5 will close at Ortega Highway, directing traffic off, then immediately back on the freeway.
In addition, the northbound onramp to the I-5 at Ortega Highway will be closed, says a bulletin from Caltrans. Motorists can catch the freeway at San Juan Creek or Junipero Serra roads.
Ortega Highway will also be closed to through traffic over the bridge, Caltrans says.

Motorists on the south side of the freeway wanting to enter at Ortega to go south may do so.
Workers contracted by Caltrans to expand the interchange at Ortega need the closures to reconfigure their work space as they head into the next phases of the project.

Those phases include some serious closures ahead. The first of which is the closure of the northbound off-ramp for two weeks, starting Sept. 8.
