Saddleback Memorial to Give an Update on Closure Plans

At this week's San Clemente City Council meeting, Saddleback Memorial officials will give an update on plans to close ER serving SJC.

At this week’s San Clemente City Council meeting, the council will hear a report from Saddleback Memorial Care Hospital, concerning the status of the potential closure of the hospital.

For four decades, the hospital has served the residents of San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point.

If the hospital closes, the nearest emergency room for many of the residents in those communities would be in Mission Viejo, according to the group Save San Clemente Hospital.

The hospital’s parent company MemorialCare plans to close the hospital and replace it with an outpatient medical center.
