Sgt. Peacock Saves Owl In San Juan Capistrano: CHP Video
An owl that was trapped in a net was rescued by the aptly named California Highway Patrol Sergeant Rick Peacock.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA ā An owl that was trapped in a net was rescued by some of Orange County's finest on Tuesday, California Highway Patrol Officer Rafael Reynoso said.
Officers called to the scene north of State Route 74 were on hand while an overturned commercial trailer carrying a load of dirt was being cleaned up at approximately 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
"This morning, while at the scene of a traffic collision on Antonio Parkway in Rancho Mission Viejo, Sgt. Rick Peacock and Sgt. Phil Apodaca found an owl in distress," Reynoso said. The bird, a large barn owl, was caught in a net near a tree, according to Reynoso.

Three men using a tarp and gentle maneuvers, managed to block the bird's wings from flapping so that it would not harm itself during the rescue.
"It is unknown how long the owl had been there," Reynoso said.

After several minutes helping the owl, Peacock managed to safely free the unharmed owl. The three videoed the owl flying to freedom, unharmed.
