Thank You Mission Viejo City Council!

Capistrano Unified School District School $1.8 billion dollar School Facilities Bond

The Mission Viejo City Council held a special board meeting last night to discuss the effect that the Capistrano Unified School District's proposed $889 billion dollar bond (repayment of $2 billion over 25 years) will have on tax payers, students and the overall quality of life for Mission Viejo residents.

By unanimous vote, the City agreed to take a unified position in opposition to the Bond.

It is my sincere hope that every City within the Capistrano Unified school district will take a similar position.

In addition, I would like to see the Cities join together and seek reimbursement of any taxpayer funds that were mis-used by the District in setting up, and advocating for this bond.

Attorney General Kamala Harris issued an opinion in January 2016 which ruled that it is a mis-use public funds to advocate passage of a bond measure by contracting with a person or entity for services related to the bond election campaign if the pre-election services may be fairly characterized as a campaign activity.
