2 Downtown Shops Play Musical Chairs

Studio Pink moves into Whim, Inspiration Boutique moves into Studio Pink's old spot and the Black Cat Gallery gets a stay of execution.

, the store in the Provincial Building with the cute, pink awning, has moved into the warm environs of hom- furnishings store Whim.

Meanwhile,  has moved from lower courtyard in the Franciscan Plaza to Studio Pink’s old location.

“We just incorporated Studio Pink inside of Whim,” said designer Daviell Maldonado, who owns both businesses.

Over at the dead-man-walking Vaquero West building, the Black Cat Gallery’s lease was extended through the holidays.

Demolition of the building has been postponed, so the  also got a reprieve, said glass artist Randi Peshkin.

“I’m just going to be here as long as we’re here,” said Peshkin, who agreed to work the 7-day work-weeks with the idea she could endure a month. Now it will be three. “After it’s over, I’m going to sleep!”

About two-thirds of the structure will be torn down during a renovation that, with the help of , will bring more retail and office space to downtown.
