UNION BANK EMPLOYEES BUILD BIKES FOR ORANGE COUNTY YOUTH

As part of its ongoing commitment to responsible banking and supporting local communities, MUFG Union Bank, N.A., in partnership with Odyssey Teams, Inc., surprised nearly 30 Orange County elementary school students with new bikes. Also pleasantly surprised were the nearly 200 bank employees who built the bikes.

Twenty-nine students from Whittier Elementary School in Costa Mesa received the bikes at the culmination of a team-building event for Union Bank’s Business Banking group. During the event, bank employees split into teams to build 29 bikes in four hours. Unaware of the plans to donate the completed bikes through the Odyssey Teams’ “Life Cycles” training solutions program, bank employees were honored and overjoyed to learn that local youth would benefit from their collaborative endeavor.

“At Union Bank, we are committed to strengthening the communities we serve through giving and volunteerism,” said Union Bank Managing Director Todd Hollander, head of Business Banking. “This event gave us an opportunity to do both and is a great example of how teamwork and enthusiasm can transform a concept into a tangible benefit for others.
