16 San Leandro Restaurants To Try
More than a dozen new eateries opened in San Leandro last year. Which ones would you like to try?
SAN LEANDRO, CA — Most San Leandro residents can point to restaurants that are long-time favorites but if you are hoping to try something new, the City of San Leandro reports that no less than 16 new eateries opened in 2023.
They range from sandwich shops to a reborn sports lounge to ethnic cuisine.
A1 Pho can be found at 2089 E. 14th Street. The menu includes Vietnamese noodles, rice, sandwiches, and a full kids menu. There are also vegetarian options.
Aoi Teriyaki & Ramen opened at at 14799 Washington Avenue. It features chicken, ramen and sides in a no-frills environment.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries opened its first San Leandro location, offering "250,000 ways to customize a burger." It has amazing burgers, fries cut from fresh potatoes, milkshakes and other beverages. Don't forget to grab some free peanuts.
Golden Bay Banquet opened at 14736 E. 14th Street, offering authentic dim sum at affordable prices.
GrilleeQ offers customized BBQ prepared in a home kitchen for pickup. Meats include beef short ribs and chicken thighs, three seafood choices, and grilled veggies. You can also host a 3-hour BBQ with 12 friends or family at the GrilleeQ patio. They do the work while you enjoy the company and food.
Habibi’s Birria offers a unique "Mexiterranean" concept of Halal Mexican and Mediterranean dishes including tacos, burritos, wraps, salads and plates. The eatery is at 403 Lewis Avenue.
ibringdasmoke is another home kitchen operation, providing brisket, pulled pork, baby back ribs, burnt ends and smoked chicken. There are also tempting sides and dessert.
IHOP opened in the former Sizzler space at 201 Davis Street, at the corner of Davis and E. 14th Streets. In addition to the chain's iconic pancakes, it has a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu including a 55+ menu.
Ike’s Sandwiches offers something for everyone: meat lovers, vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten-free. It is open 7 days a week, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 155 Parrott Street, the former Allphin’s Jewelers location.
Joe’s Pho opened its second San Leandro location at 1305 Washington Avenue.
Nick the Greek offers Greek fast food including gyros, pitas, salads, soup, souvlaki, and fries three ways. Save room for baklava! Nick's is in the former Luke’s Grill spot, at 1509 E. 14th Street. It opened in May.
Pho Thin Ha Noi is a self service Vietnamese restaurant that uses a kiosk for orders and payment, and diners pick up their orders when called. In addition to pho, the menu includes spring rolls, egg rolls, chicken wings, and kid-sized pho.
Rickey’s Sports Lounge has reopened with new ownership, a reinvention of the concept, and a slight variation on the name. It plans to continue as a home for Raider Nation. It is located at 15028 Hesperian Boulevard.
Sheng Kee Bakery Cafe opened in November at Marina Faire shopping center, 13700 Doolittle Drive. It offers delectable Asian-inspired baked goods including pastries, cookies, small pies, buns, and whole cakes. Enjoy coffee, milk tea, and traditional leaf teas with your bakery treats.
United Paleteria y Neveria, which opened its second San Leandro location at 14278 E. 14th Street in November, offers smoothies, boba, milk tea, and Mexican Ice Cream.
Zenti Bistro opened at Creekside Plaza, 500 Davis Street. Photos of brunch and inventive tacos look amazing. Enjoy a nice meal, or quick counter service, or grab-and-go.
