2 Hurt In San Leandro Shootout

Police found some 40 shell casings at the scene of the shooting.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — An argument that escalated into a shootout Sunday evening in San Leandro left two people injured, police say.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 500 block of Victoria Court about 9:30 p.m. They learned a dialogue between two groups had quickly escalated into seven people producing guns.

Two people arrived at a nearby hospital for treatment, both with life-threatening injuries.

There were nearly 40 shell casings found at the scene, according to a release from San Leandro police.

The shooting was targeted, according to detectives, as both groups knew each other.
