The year 2016 is an exciting one for All Saints Episcopal Church, San Leandro (saintsalive.net). Not only is 2016 the 60th Anniversary of the church being recognized as a parish by the Episcopal Diocese of California, but this year All Saints also welcomes its new Rector, the Rev. Justin R. Cannon. His first services with All Saints will be on Sunday, January 10th, at 8:00am and 10:15am.
The Rev. Cannon received his Master of Divinity from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley. In 2011, he was ordained to the priesthood by the Right Reverend Marc Andrus, Bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of California (diocal.org), and since June 2012 has been serving at the Episcopal congregation in Moraga. He is the founder and director of Holy Hikes (holyhikes.org), an eco-ministry that is committed to rebuilding Communion between people and Creation, as well as the founder of Inclusive Orthodoxy (inclusiveorthodoxy.org). The Rev. Cannon is a published author and editor of two books addressing LGBT Christian issues. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and national newsmagazines. In 2006, the Rev. Cannon was recognized as one of OUT Magazine’s 100 most influential people of the year and in 2007 as one of Instinct Magazine’s Leading Men of the Year for his work in the LGBT community.

The church has two Sunday services, which are very different in style. The Sunday 8:00am service is very traditional, using Elizabethan English (similar to the King James Bible), and does not have music. The 10:15am service is a contemporary service including piano, a cantor, and a variety of hymns. Anyone from our community and beyond is invited to visit the church at any time and will be welcomed with open arms!
