Artichokes grown in a backyard in San Leandro, Calif. (Miyo Burnett)

SAN LEANDRO, CA — If you've seen the price of artichokes at the grocery store recently, you can appreciate Miyo Burnett's quest to grow her own. Not to mention that everything tastes better when picked fresh from your own garden.

Back in mid-April, Miyo wrote, "My 2021 artichoke plant has produced (once again) these 6 artichokes on top (plus more on the way!)." And a tip from Miyo, "Hope this year's crop is as tasty as the sample I received from the Hayward Community Garden."

Thank you, Miyo! We hope they were delicious.
