Ashland Home Damaged By Fire

Smoke detectors awakened the family.

ASHLAND, CA - A one-alarm fire in Alameda County caused moderate damage to a home this morning, firefighters said.

The fire was reported at 2:30 a.m. at a one-story home in the 600 block of Harmony Court, in the unincorporated community of Ashland, between San Leandro and Hayward.

The fire started in the kitchen and extended into the home's attic. Firefighters brought it under control 20 minutes later.

Smoke detectors woke up the family, who evacuated without injury.

No firefighters were harmed.
