Boat Sinks At San Leandro Marina

Firefighters set up a boom around the vessel to trap leaking diesel fuel.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — No one was injured Sunday when a boat that was tied to a dock 'sank' at the San Leandro Marina.

The boat leaked diesel fuel, prompting Alameda County firefighters to set up a boom around the vessel. Firefighters are continuing to skim the water of diesel.

The 60-foot boat was tied to the end of ‘M’ pier when it sank during the afternoon.

According to the fire department, the San Leandro Marina Harbormaster Assistant and the boat's owner were at the scene on Sunday.

The U.S. Coast Guard is expected to follow up with the owner for salvage operations.
