Brush Fire Fills San Leandro & Castro Valley With Smoke

Alameda County firefighters knocked down the blaze near Miramar Avenue Sunday afternoon.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Alameda County Fire Department crews got a brushfire under control Sunday, but not before it sent smoke into San Leandro and Castro Valley neighborhoods.

The vegetation fire was reported around 2 p.m. near Miramar Avenue, and motorists were asked to avoid the Miramar area near Foothill Boulevard.

No details were given on what sparked the blaze or how many acres were burned.
