SAN LEANDRO, CA — The California Highway Patrol will conduct a DUI/Driver's License Checkpoint this Friday night somewhere in the unincorporated areas of San Leandro and Hayward. The checkpoint will run from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
The location for the checkpoint will be chosen based on previous DUI cases. By publicizing the checkpoint in advance, the CHP hopes to decrease the number of DUI arrests and increase the number of sober drivers on the road.
According to Castro Valley Area CHP Commander, Lt. Stephen Perea; “Our mission is to save lives through both education and enforcement. The dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol, marijuana and other drugs cannot be over emphasized and we would hope that those who choose to consume any of these would make the right choice by having a sober, designated driver.”
