Monarch Butterfly Exhibit, Events Planned At San Leandro Main Library

A traveling exhibit on monarchs opens this week, with free library programs through mid-May.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — The San Leandro Main Library will host “Monarchs and Milkweed: A Story of Survival,” a traveling exhibit designed by Outhouse Exhibit Services, from Thursday, April 2, through Saturday, May 30, at 300 Estudillo Ave.

The exhibit focuses on the life cycle of monarch butterflies, their migration, the role of milkweed habitats and the challenges monarchs face.

The display has a local connection. According to the announcement, San Leandro is home to one of the Bay Area’s important overwintering sites for monarchs. The library said that makes the exhibit especially relevant for residents.
